Sunday Reset: One Question to Ask Yourself Before the Week Starts

Sunday nights used to hit different when we were younger, right? That mix of "I should probably do homework" and "I don't want the weekend to end." Now it's more like "Did I actually accomplish anything meaningful this week?" and "How am I already behind for next week?"

Here's a different approach: Instead of Sunday anxiety, what if we made it Sunday clarity?

This Week's Reset Question:

"What's one way I want to show up differently this week?"

Not "What do I want to achieve" or "What's my goal" – but how do you want to show up? This is about your energy, your presence, your approach to challenges.

Maybe you want to show up more:

  • Confidently in group projects

  • Calmly during stressful moments

  • Authentically in social situations

  • Focused during practice

  • Kindly to yourself when things don't go perfectly

Why This Question Works

Goals are about outcomes you can't always control. But showing up? That's completely in your hands. You can't guarantee you'll win the game, but you can guarantee you'll show up prepared and present. You can't control whether people like your presentation, but you can control showing up authentic and confident.

The beauty of this approach: It's process-focused instead of results-focused. And process is where your power actually lives.

How to Use This

  1. Choose your "show up" intention for the week

  2. Write it somewhere you'll see it (phone wallpaper, bathroom mirror, notebook cover)

  3. Check in mid-week: How am I doing with this intention?

  4. Reset if needed: If you forget or get off track, that's not failure – it's information

Next Sunday's Reflection

Before choosing next week's intention, spend 30 seconds acknowledging: How did I show up this week? What felt good? What felt forced? What do I want to adjust?

This isn't about judgment or grades – it's about awareness and intentional growth.

Your Sunday Reset Ritual

Consider pairing this question with something that feels nourishing to you:

  • Make your favorite tea

  • Put on a playlist that centers you

  • Step outside for fresh air

  • Light a candle (yes, even in your dorm)

  • Call someone who makes you feel like yourself

The goal: End your Sunday feeling intentional about the week ahead instead of anxious about everything you haven't done.
